What is mentoring?

Mentoring is an age-old practice of helping mentees set and achieve goals. In many instances, it entails pairing mentors with academic and/or industry knowledge and expertise in career areas that mentees are pursuing. This model requires a comprehensive structure and dedicated effort of all parties involved to make mentor-mentee relationships work.

What is our perspective on mentoring?
NBEF values building a safe space and accessible programs where participants can edify and empower each other by sharing their experiences, knowledge, skills, resources, contacts, etc. For example, we believe that pairing our high school seniors and college freshman with other members of “NBEF’s College & Young Professional Network” who have already evolved and succeeded in their respective educational and career journeys will undoubtedly be immensely productive and impactful. We also plan to pair young professionals with college upperclassmen and seasoned professionals with young professionals.
